The province of Guanacaste boasts the name "Gold Coast" because of its popular beaches and long dry season. Playa Junquillal is one of the longest, sandy beaches of Guanacaste and has achieved the "Blue Flag Award" for providing safe and clean beaches for our international visitors.

The local community is a blend of Costa Rica natives and residents from the United States, Germany, France, Italy... We maintain a clear Costa Rica flavor in the many festivals and still natural setting. One need not be Spanish speaking to live here, most of the community speaks fluent English.

The World Wildlife Federation has active community programs protecting the turtle population, as well as monkey and bird preservation.

The roads are newly paved, connecting this area to the airport in Liberia and the town of Santa Cruz, the headquarters for the Guanacaste Province.

One can live in Playa Junquillal without a vehicle, the daily bus service provides transportation several times a day.

There are two new commercial centers, fine dining and hotels, grocery stores, mail services in place. Hospital is less than 40 miles away.

Within the village is a horseback riding stable, surf and kayaking, snorkeling and fishing. The river has boating available, wildlife tours, zip-line tours, all available in Junquillal.

This is known as a family beach and has attracted many residents from around the world; the popularity and growth are managed to maintain its healthy natural beauty and appeal.
